Best Practices 1
1. Title of the Practice
Miniproject (For SE Electrical Students)
2. Objectives of the Practice
Objectives of Miniproject:
1) To understand the basic concepts & components of electrical engg,
2) To design simple circuits related to electrical engg.
3) To build the relation between theory and practical.
Outcomes of Miniprojects:
After the completion of miniproject students will be able to,
1) Understand basic concepts & components of Electrical Engg.
2) Design & explain simple circuits of electrical engg.
3. The Context
As have introduced this miniproject as extra subject other than syllabus, the initiation & involvement of students is challenging task in completion of miniproject. Another challenging point will be to make students to understand the importance of miniprojects at SE level.
4. The Practice
Miniproject for SE Electrical Engg is introduced as other than syllabus subject from 2016-17. By performing these kinds of miniprojects at SE level, students will be able to understand the basic concepts of PCB design, Design of simple circuits & working of all components in Electrical Engg, which will be helpful for the students in their final year projects.
5. Evidence of Success
The evidence of success is attached with respective files. The results are indicated in students performance at BE level projects. Students have also participated at many project competitions & also published papers at International Journals
6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required
Problems Encountered: Motivation for students is required to complete the miniprojects as it is not compulsory subjects.
Resources required: Projects lab which consists of all equipments which are used while building /designing the miniprojects.
Best Practices 2
1. Title of the Practice
Paper Publication by students.
2. Objectives of the Practice
Objectives:
1) To understand the practical concepts of electrical engg,
2) To design paper related to electrical engg projects.
3) To build the relation between BE projects and outside researchers.
Outcomes:
After the completion of Project students will be able to,
1) Write & Design Paper which is to be published.
2) Understand all requirements related to paper publication and student’s paper will be published globally.
3. The Context
As we have made compulsory for BE students to Publish a paper related to their projects in any international journals, the completion of project in time and the initiation & involvement of students is challenging task in completion of paper in time.
4. The Practice
Paper Publications by students related to BE projects was introduced from 2014-15 but it is made compulsory from 2016-17. By Publishing the paper students will understand what our project is and what value it has in the market. And students will also get benefit of this in their interviews or higher studies. Till now around 30 papers were published by students in our Electrical Engg. dept.
5. Evidence of Success
The evidence of success is attached with respective files. The results are indicated in students performance at BE level projects. Students have also participated at many project competitions & also published papers at International Journals
6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required
Problems Encountered: Motivation for students is required to complete the projects as so that they will get time to write and publish the paper.
Resources required: Projects lab which consists of all equipments which are used while building /designing the projects.
Best Practices 3
1. Title of the Practice
Teacher Guidance Scheme or Mentorship Scheme.
2. Objectives of the Practice
To understand the needs of students regarding their academics and on campus requirements. Students can share their problems with their respective mentor and the problem can be solved with proper manner.
3. The Context
To create and maintain a proper student staff relation. To overcome the difficulties of students and make the students more confident in studies as well as other activities.
4. The Practice
This practice is followed since 5 years. Every staff (mentor) is allotted 15 to 20 students. Each students share their difficulty regarding subjects or any other personal issues. Then the staff understands their problem, solve it to their level and with the HOD and the personal problems with the parents of ach students.
5. Evidence of Success
The evidence of success is attached with respective files. The details of each student are encountered in these files (personal information, academic status, co circular activities, difficulties, achievements, etc). The student guardian faculty meeting is conducted regularly to over overcome student’s problems and help them achieve their goals.
6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required
Problems Encountered: They find difficulty in communicating with mentors. Initiation from students is less, to share their problems with their mentor. Some students not share their problems with parents too, that hamper their performance.
